Contest:
The Sky Doll Pixel Art contest has been very successful - so its deadline will be postponed to the end of October, to grant everybody the chance to take part.
in Autumn 2007, or at the beginning of 2008, the new Sky Doll website will be online.
We’re looking for artists to help us creating a webpage with free downloadable images for the website’s visitors.
It will be a Japan design/kawaii page, hosting many downloadable images, among which dolls and icons in Pixel Art.
The purpose of this contest is to transform what you did here into a real assignment.
As a matter of fact, this contest’s winner or winners will work with us to create this webpage.
It will be a professional and paid job.
Moreover, the winners’ name and website links will be displayed on the Sky Doll website.
If the images submitted for this contest are particularly good, they might be used also for the website, upon your approval.
But that’s not mandatory.
Rules:
1) You must create at least 2 images in Pixel Art based on SkyDoll’s world.
Most importantly, they must be original works created by you. We don’t want dolls made with a dollmaker or by artists other than you.
The choice of the character is up to you, as well as the interpretation and the size. We are particularly fond of Pixel Art about dolls, female characters and Scropo, the white pet. We appreciate styles similar to Japanese design (see Junko Mizuno or Okama). Symbols or animated gifs of Sky Doll’s logos are also welcome.
We’d like you to be “yourself”, with a propositional attitude and an art “of your own”.
We’ll create together the professional works, suited to our world, only afterwards.
2) The images must be in gif format, with transparent background. That’s to say, without any background.
Submitted works with non-transparent background or violating the rules will be rejected.
The size is free.
3) For the time being, you can use any base you want, but be careful to comply with rule No. 1.
4) You’ll submit your works here.
5) Animated dolls are welcome.
6) If don’t win the contest: you can sign your creations, of course, but you must include in your website, blog or forum (or any other Internet or editing platform …) the following caption: “image inspired by Sky Doll”. You cannot place the © Barbucci and Canepa, since they’re not images by us.
7) DEADLINE: the contest will close on September 30 th 2007. The exact date will be communicated in August.
8) The jury will be composed of me (Barbara Canepa) and Alessandro Barbucci.
9) The first 10 images will be exposed on the new Sky Doll website for a certain period of time (when and how long are yet to be decided).
10) For any information, questions, problems, contact me at this e-mail address: barbara.canepa@yahoo.it
11) For everyone in need of Sky Doll’s images or references, in the near future we’ll create a database with the main characters, or you can easily find some images of ours here, on Soleil's website:
12) We reserve the right to reject a submitted work if it doesn’t comply with the previous rules.
